What Are Your Hobbies?

While in Chiang Mai, I happened to make some Thai friends. They were involved in a project for a non-profit organization related to blockchain. As we got to know each other, we exchanged Instagram handles, which led me to some insightful reflections.

I noticed that each of my new friends had distinct and vibrant hobbies—hiking, singing, indoor climbing, and posting videos of their favorite artists, to name a few. What struck me was that their Instagram feeds weren’t about showcasing how "awesome" they were. Instead, they genuinely shared the joy they found in their daily activities. It made me realize that we all have the same 24 hours in a day. Despite having their main jobs, they were actively making the most of their time, enriching their lives with various pursuits. This reflection brought me back to my own daily routine.

After work, I often found myself lounging at home, endlessly scrolling through my phone until I eventually fell asleep, feeling a bit lethargic. While I don’t believe one must always be active, I do cherish the valuable habit I developed here in Chiang Mai — writing a short reflection each day. I intend to maintain this practice moving forward.

However, I also recognize the need to boost my energy levels, and taking up exercise as a hobby seems like a great step. Perhaps it’s finally time to revisit Pilates, which I’ve been postponing for a while.

Looking ahead, when I return to Korea, I’m excited to go maple leaf viewing with my husband, enjoying the crisp autumn breeze together.

actually, I also like swimming:)
