Today was a day to spend with my husband’s younger sister. After attending church together and sharing a meal, she and I hopped on a bus to Hongdae.
It had been a while since our last one-on-one outing since last winter, but there wasn’t a hint of awkwardness. We visited a pop-up store featuring characters she loves, spending a delightful time browsing cute merchandise. After she picked out something she’d been wanting, we stopped by a small shop where she chose an adorable keyring for me, saying it reminded her of me. Receiving such an unexpected, heartfelt gift warmed my heart. Later, we settled into a café and chatted away for hours. Before meeting her today, I prepared a small envelope of pocket money for her. She decided to stay in the school dorm during the summer vacation to focus on her studies, and I thought living away from home might bring unexpected expenses, so I wanted to help out even in a small way. During today’s sermon, I heard that extending a warm hand to family and neighbors is more precious than fasting for personal gain or to honor God. This message made me even happier to give her the money with a joyful heart.
More and more, I feel like my husband’s younger sister is truly becoming my own sister.
